KINNECT Data Storage Security Policy

Updated this week

Storing your personal information

At KINNECT, we are committed to safeguarding your personal health information. In compliance with Australian health data standards, we retain medical records for a minimum of 30 years. To ensure full compliance and enhance data security, we extend this period to 40 years. Throughout this time, we implement strict measures to protect your data and uphold confidentiality.

Please note that, in compliance with legal requirements, we are unable to delete any part of the health assessment or remove specific elements from our client records. We are obligated to retain copies of the full medical records.

While we cannot delete records, we can amend any factual inaccuracies, such as typographical errors or incorrect results. However, please be advised that we are not permitted to alter or remove the health information or test results themselves.

Data Deletion & Destruction

  1. How are medical records destroyed once deleted from the system?

    • After the required storage period, data flagged for deletion is securely and permanently removed from our system. This process is conducted in accordance with our data management policies and all relevant regulatory requirements.

  2. Is data removed based on the medical appointment date or the completion date?

    • The purging process and data deletion is triggered by the completion date of the medical assessment and the date the information was collected, not the referral date. This ensures compliance with operational and regulatory protocols.
