Using Previously Collected Medical Information

Can we use previous medical results to get a new Doctor sign off / report?

Updated over 6 months ago

Medical conditions change over time – the timeline of change can be very difficult to predict and depends on a wide range of factors.

Consequently, the decision on whether to accept previous medicals to do a new “Doctor sign off”, critically depends on the content of the previous medical.

The KINNECT Doctor has the professional responsibility to decide whether it is appropriate to move forward and use the information on the previous medical in order to provide a new summary report and sign off.

The decision is based on:

  • Timeframe from last medical assessment

  • If a different medical standard needs to be applied

  • Whether there is sufficient data available in the previous medical

  • Whether there is all the necessary medical components/tests/information required to allow the new sign off to be completed by the KINNECT Doctor

Medicals less than 12 months old – increased likelihood of a further information required.

Medical conditions change over time and it can be difficult to predict fitness and this depends on a wide range of factors. The decision on whether to accept a previous medical to do a new result critically depends on the information in the previous medical.

If you are asking KINNECT to use a previous medical to provide a result for a new type medical you need to consider the following:

  • Are the medicals similar?

  • Are the medical guidelines similar?

  • Was the medical completed within the last 6 months.

If Yes, you can enquire, as the likelihood of requiring further information is low and KINNECT may be able to assist.

For medical assessments that occurred 7 to 12 months prior, we may not be able to use the assessment or may have to ask for further information – keep in mind that the medicals still have to be similar in nature.

Medical Assessments over 12 months are unlikely to be able to be used as the data is too outdated and medical events may have occurred since.

If after the review, the Doctor has indicated that there is not sufficient information to re-use, there will be a recommendation to book a new assessment.

In all instances a review by a KINNECT Doctor is required to determine whether we have sufficient information to provide a new result.

Medicals over 12 months old - high likelihood of a further information required.

As there is a high likelihood further information will be required - a new medical assessment matched to current requirements is recommended.
